Information for CE, CSE and EE students about the Course language offered
All of our lectures as well as the excercises are only offered in German.
However, for the modules Datenbanken I (or Datenbanken für Anwender) and Datenbanken II, we may be able to provide additional English material. Nevertheless, the written exam for Datenbanken I (or Datenbanken für Anwender) will be offered in German only. The oral exam for Datenbanken II may be able to be offered in English on request. If you want to take an oral exam, you have to inform yourself about registration in your students office AND afterwards request a specific appointment per E-mail.
Regarding the other courses, no English material is available that covers the whole topic of the lectures. Therefore, these courses can only be studied in German. The exams are also offered in German only.

Prerequisites for the different courses
Some of our courses are dependent on each other. The dependencies are shown in the following graph. If you do not have basic knowledge in the required courses, you should visit those first. As an example: if you wish to attend "Datenbanken III", you should first gain basic knowledge in "Datenbanken II".
Prerequisites for writing a Master Thesis at our Research Group
For students in Computational Engineering, Computational Science and Engineering and Electrical Engineering (Specialization in Information Technology), we can only supervise a Master thesis if the following conditions apply:
- mandatory: the student must have taken the courses Datenbanken I (or Datenbanken für Anwender) and Datenbanken II and passed them with minimum grade 2.3
- optional: the student has taken the course Datenbank-Anwendungsprogrammierung
Since most of the theses at our research group are part of a larger project with German project partners and German applications (requirements;,documents, data, ...) as a basis, the biweekly meetings will be held in German and often the thesis has to be written in German, too.
