The Data Research Group (DBIS) of Prof. Dr. Andreas Heuer at University of Rostock deals with a large number of topics of basic and applied research. This are in the fields of database: integration and evolution, database support for assistance systems and digital libraries for structured, highly networked documents.

In teaching, the chair is involved with one compulsory module and three optional modules in the Bachelor's programme in Computer Science, as well as with various optional modules in the corresponding Master's programme. Furthermore, various service modules for other, also non-technical courses of study are offered.
